I moved to this beautiful area without ever visiting, and I can honestly say I got more than I ever imagined. The moment I saw the woods and the Boundary Waters, I knew I had found my place. With my husband by my side, we took on the challenge of building our off-grid dream home and guest cabin from the ground up—neither of us had any experience, but we were determined to make it happen. Along the way, I’ve gained invaluable knowledge in home building, construction, solar energy, and everything that goes into making a house truly feel like home.
I know what it means to work hard, learn new skills, and fall in love with the process of creating something from nothing. I live up the Gunflint Trail with my husband and our dogs, and we spend our days hiking, paddleboarding, and exploring new places—whether it’s here or somewhere else.
While I wasn’t born with the heart of a Minnesotan, I sure have one now.
